A pedigree’s journey
From Esko Dänischen hof to Apollo Nummer-Eins
Two dogs, born two decades apart. One of them has come to be known in certain circles as a must have of any successful motherline; there was a time (app a decade or so ago) when you saw only Esko daughters and their children with their distinct type, and widely known excellent hip health, featured heavily in the winners circle.
Esko’s spot was rightly taken over by his maternal grandson, naturally, VA1 zamp thermodos. Zamp produced many beautiful children, at a time when the tanks were saturated by dogs that descended from VA1 Ursus Batu, bringing their structural anomalies in the forehand and croup, very large size and an overall lack of an identifiable paternal type through their virtues (many sons of ursus and his double sieger son yasko looked nothing like them). Zamp came along and brought forth those excellent forehands, croups, produced movers that looked harmonious in all gaits, the Esko family lived on.
Unfortunately, as the climate has been of late, several dogs were lost to foreign markets in the east with briefcases full of euros, and the zamp line featured less and less and the prominent sons left the fatherland. As different folks ascended to power, and decided to promote different dogs from different families (which has led us to where the breed has come today) but I digress.
I was lucky enough to identify this bloodline and excited to feature it in the Nummer-Eins breeding program due to its advantages that I saw, the question was finding the right dog to bring the family forward.
Finally, a full two decades later, through the V litter (VA vesper and VA Vesta) going down through Tigra v Nummer Eins (who featured Esko on her father’s maternal line and was herself a representative of that Type) carried the family forward through her daughters Nala and Nevada v Nummer-Eins who went on to produce Apollo and Athena v Nummer-Eins (5 generations in)
